Przedmiotem analiz Autorki jest spór o wychowanie, o jego potrzebę, zakres, metodę i cel, który zawiązał się już w starożytnej Grecji i trwa po dzień dzisiejszy. W szranki stają trzy odmienne typy pedagogiki: kolektywistyczna, indywidualistyczna oraz personalistyczna. U ich podstaw tkwią różne koncepcje człowieka: bądź jako funkcji państwa (kolektywizm), bądź jako zaobsolutyzowanej jednostki (indywidualizm), bądź jako rozumnej, wolnej i suwerennej bytowo, ale spotencjalizowanej i żyjącej społecznie osoby (personalizm). Antropologie te są z kolei pokłosiem filozofii, a ostatecznie sporu o samą filozofię, jaki toczy się pomiędzy tradycją idealizmu (racjonalizmem i irracjonalizmem) a tradycją realizmu poznawczego. Okazuje się więc, że rzeczowe i racjonalne rozstrzygnięcie sporu o kształt i cel wychowania, a tym samym o naukowy status pedagogiki uniwersyteckiej oraz o jej rolę w praktyce wychowawczej zależy od rozstrzygnięcia sporu o filozofię i związane z nią koncepcje człowieka.

At the Foundations of Personalistic Pedagogy
The Philosophical Context of the Dispute over Education
in a series of "Scripta Philosophiae Classicae" (5).

The subject of the author’s analysis is a dispute over education, about the need, field, method and goal, which came into being in ancient Greece and continues to this day. There are three different types of education and pedagogy: collectivistic, individualistic and personalistic. At the foundations of them lie different concepts of man: either as a function of the state (collectivism), or as absolutized individual (individualism), or as rational, free and sovereign existentially, but potential and socially living person (personalism). These anthropologies are in turn results of philosophy, and ultimately a dispute on the same philosophy, which is between the tradition of idealism (rationalism and irrationalism) and the tradition of cognitive realism. It turns out that the factual and rational settlement of the dispute over the shape and purpose of education, and thus about the scientific status of pedagogy at the university and its role in educational practice depends on the resolution of the dispute about the philosophy and the related concepts of man.
