Książka jest kolejną pozycją w serii wydawniczej „Scripta Philosophiae Classicae” i drugą z prac w tej serii dotyczących greckiej aretologii, tym razem społecznych uwarunkowań realizacji cnoty-arete w nawiązaniu do tekstów Platona i Arystotelesa. Autor przypomina klasyczną koncepcję polityki jako działalności ludzkiej związanej z moralnością. Sięgając do Platońskiej i Arystotelesowskiej aretologii autor ukazuje istotę klasycznie rozumianej filozofii polityki, która wiązała organizację poszczególnych kręgów życia społecznego z kształtowaniem sprawności (cnót) moralnych. Celem tak rozumianej polityki jest pełnia rozwoju człowieka, a więc jego szczęście. Autor ukazuje najpierw przyjaźń jako podstawowy warunek spełniania się arete w relacjach międzyludzkich, a następnie główne obszary życia społecznego, jak gospodarka i polityka, w których realizuje się arete. Za Platonem i Arystotelesem autor wydobywa znaczenie państwa-polis jako miejsca spełniania się człowieka, ukazując podobieństwa i różnice w politologii obu myślicieli.

Aretological basis of Plato’s and Aristotle’s political science

The book is the next item in the series "Scripta Philosophiae Classicae" and second of this series on Greek aretology, this time the social conditions of implementation of virtue-arete in relation to the texts of Plato and Aristotle. The author reminds the classical conception of politics as a human activity associated with morality. Reaching to the Platonic and Aristotelian aretology author reveals the essence of classical understanding of political philosophy, which entailed the organization of various circles of society with the formation of moral abilities (virtues). The aim of this kind of policy is the fullness of human development, and so his happiness. The author shows first friendship as a basic condition for the fulfillment of the virtue-arete in human relations, and then the main areas of social life, the economy and politics, which implements the arete. In the footsteps of Plato and Aristotle, the author brings out the importance of a state-polis as a place of fulfillment of the human, showing the similarities and differences in the political science of both thinkers.
