Książka zawiera ponadto rys historyczny ateizmu uwzględniający źródła filozoficzne od starożytności po czasy najnowsze, oraz specyfikę teoretycznego i praktycznego ateizmu w jego wydaniu polskim. Ostatnią część książki tworzą obszernie omówione formy ateizmu, oraz analiza źródeł postaw ateistycznych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem motywów filozoficznych. Książka zawiera ponadto omówienie takich postaw, jak agnostycyzm i sceptycyzm oraz spis najważniejszych pozycji bibliograficznych na temat ateizmu. Novum książki stanowi analiza fenomenu ateizmu w kontekście nie tylko religioznawczym, ale przede wszystkim filozoficzno-antropologicznym. Analiza ateizmu jako prądu umysłowego w kontekście filozoficznej wizji człowieka wyznacza nową perspektywę badawczą, sięgając głęboko do antropologii, gdzie podkreśla się naturalną tendencję natury ludzkiej jako ukierunkowanej na transcendencję.

The Trap of Atheism
in the series "The Vademecum of Philosophy"

The book includes basic issues of atheism: the necessary etymological explanations, the basic meaning of the term "atheism", the main types of atheism (philosophical, epistemological, semiotic, anthropological, religious, psychological, sociological), theoretical and practical, as well as forms of atheism, as antitheism or pseudo atheism. The book also includes a historical overview with the philosophical sources of atheism from antiquity to the present day, and the specificity of theoretical and practical atheism in its Polish type. The last part of the book discusses forms of atheism, and analysis of the sources of atheistic attitudes with particular emphasis on philosophical motives. The book also includes a discussion of such attitudes, as agnosticism and skepticism and a list of the most important bibliography on atheism. The novelty of book is an analysis of the phenomenon of atheism in the context of not only religious studies, but mainly philosophical and anthropological. Analysis of atheism as an intellectual current in the context of the philosophical vision of man sets a new research perspective, based deeply on anthropology, which emphasizes the natural tendency of human nature as oriented to transcendence.
