Książka obejmuje dwie kwestie, 21 i 22, ze zbioru Akwinaty Quaestiones disputatae de veritate, dotyczące dobra (De bono) i pożądania dobra oraz woli (De appetitu boni et voluntate), udostępnione w języku oryginału: łacińskim i w przekładzie polskim, oraz tematyczne studia i komentarze. Kwestie te powstały w Paryżu w latach 1257-1259. W kwestii 21 De bono św. Tomasz stara się wyjaśnić, dlaczego dobro jest powszechną właściwością wszystkich realnie istniejących bytów, w czym przejawia się owo dobro bytów, dzięki czemu byty są dobre i jakie wynikają z tego konsekwencje dla rozumienia całej rzeczywistości. Kwestia 22 De appetitu boni et voluntate zawiera zagadnienia dotyczące pożądania dobra oraz woli. Chodzi o to, czy pożądanie dobra jest właściwe wszystkim bytom, czy tylko niektórym? Co jest przedmiotem właściwym pożądania? Czym jest owo pożądanie we wszystkich bytach, a w szczególności w bycie rozumnym, jakim jest człowiek? W jaki sposób konstytuuje się ów akt pożądania i co jest jego źródłem? Oprócz kwestii o dobru książka zawiera studia i komentarze na temat powszechności dobra, decyzji jako źródła ludzkiego działania, wolności człowieka oraz miłości dobra jako podstawy dynamizmu bytowego.
Choć dysputy problemowe były przeznaczone dla zaawansowanych filozofów, to jednak ze względu na egzystencjalnie ważną problematykę, która dotyka każdego człowieka, były i ciągle są szkołą właściwego rozumienia ludzkiego działania i źródłem wielu nowych inspiracji.

The book contains two questions, 21 and 22, from the Aquinas Quaestiones disputatae de veritate, regarding the good (De bono) and the desire for good and will (De appetitu boni et voluntate), available in the original Latin and Polish translations, and thematic studies and comments. The volume also contains bibliography, an index of person and subject.
These questions were written in Paris in the years 1257-1259. In De bono St Tomasz tries to explain why good is a transcendental property of all real beings, in which the good of beings manifests itself, thanks to which beings are good and what are the consequences of this understanding of the whole reality. Question 22 entitled De appetitu boni et voluntate contains articles concerning the desire for good and characteristics of will. The main problem are: is the desire for good proper to all beings or only to some? What is the proper object of will? Is there this desire in all beings, or in particular in rational being, which is man? How is this act of desire constitute and what is its source? In addition to the question of good, the book contains studies and comments on the transcendental character of good, decisions as a source of human action, human freedom and the love of good as the basis for ontic dynamism.
Although the disputes were intended for advanced philosophers, due to existentially important problems that affect every human being, were and still are the school of proper understanding of human action and the source of many new inspirations.
